It was a rainy Sunday in Manila (thanks to Typhoon Seniang / Utor), and our Revo waded through the sea of cars in Greenhills to the Promenade, where the World Music Room Family KTV building stands. Stormy weather is perfect for karaoke sessions, because no one can blame your singing voice for the inclement environment.
Filipinos love to sing (although singing doesn't always love all Filipinos), and is one of the perfect ways to bond with your friends and family members. The numerical score at the end of one's performance helps add a level of friendly competition to the moment.
Tried singing Kiss Me (Sixpence None The Richer) and scored 84. Tried again, but shifted to the Alyssa Alano version (Keys Me) and scored 97. Go figure. :-)
Some people think the storm in the Philippines is called "Cha Cha" because people have been discussing politics, Charter Change, the Con-Ass, and the Con-Con. Even though Seniang/Utor is expected to leave the Philippines within the next 24 hours, we still forecast continued stormy weather on the political front.
Anyway, why get too exasperated over the news, right? Grab a fork and eat some mushrooms and garlic, munch on cheese sticks, snack on nachos with jalapenos, and sing the night away at the World Music Room in Greenhills.
(Don't worry, you can try to croon like Old Blue Eyes in your unique version of "My Way" without worrying about bullets flying through the air. For those not familiar with the Philippines, a lot of the murders committed in public karaoke bars happened because the victim sang "My Way." It's hard to explain. You have to hear it yourself when you're drunk at 2am.)
