It's been a while... anyway, just wanted to greet my Tagalog-learning friends a Happy New Year!
Manigong bagong taon!
(I wonder what's up with PLDT myDSL lately. Can't seem to access sites, particularly those hosted in Dreamhost. Thankfully, Liquidweb and ASmallOrange sites are still accessible. It's also good that I can visit Vox. Hopefully, these PLDT myDSL selective surfing glitches will be solved within the day.)
Some say you can joke your way into a woman's heart. If you can make her laugh, if you can make her eyes sing, if you can reward yourself with her spontaneous slap on your back or arm, then who knows? Valentines might be a bit more syrup-y for you. :-)
Thanks to Louisa, here are some Pinoy jokes.
Filipinos love to crack jokes. Corny jokes, mushy jokes, jokes that make people say "Aaaargh!" while their eyes sparkle "Awwwwwhahehehe..."
If you have some Filipino friends, try #1 and #4.
If you need a pronunciation guide, lemme know and I'll post a couple of mp3's.
Just wanted to greet everyone here in Vox a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
In Tagalog, the phrase is Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon!
In the Philippines, Christmas lanterns are called "parols." They can be made of plastic, japanese paper, cardboard, or even cellophane. You can place lights inside or outside the star frame (sometimes made of bamboo).
Decided one day to create a video using the mp3 file of a previously recorded podcast episode on how to speak Tagalog.
The daily deluge has stopped and the streets are a little bit drier now here in Manila. Things are slowly getting back to normal, as students groan their way out of a transient vacation and into their classrooms. Finally, a chance to wear non-squishy shoes.
I wonder when Jeffrvoxr will start a series of Tagalog phrases. I would do it also here in Vox, but I already have my hands full with the Viloria.com Pinoy Podcast.
That's another great thing about the rains having stopped. It's now quiet enough to record another podcast. :-)
While lots of Filipinos converge in YouTube and Blogspot, I wonder how long it will take before Pinoys start setting up virtual homes here in Vox.
If you're Pinoy, please let me know so that I may add you to my Vox neighborhood. Para masaya! :-)
(I wonder if this will be the first instance of Tagalog here in Vox...)
