Now I know why Vox is not giving me a truckload of invites to give away. Just like Maki, I'm having a hard time getting those invites accepted.
Perhaps people are just too busy, or too polite to say "No" to an invite. It might be some kind of Asian aversion to confrontation. Or it might be the case of a full inbox?
Or it might be better to cast one's net in other waters.
Who in the world wants to try publishing and sharing on the internet their words, photos, sound files, or videos? A lot of folks I know cringe when you mention the word "write." Others are quite fond of Flickr. A few are comfortable with Podomatic or Odeo. And then there's YouTube (is it true that most of the viewers of YouTube are from the Philippines?)
Looks like the search for the Vox invitee goes on...
Just curious: What percent of invites that you've given away have been accepted?
I checked the atom xml feed here in Vox, and it appears that it does not create enclosures for mp3 files. This means you cannot use the feed for podcasting. There has to be some kind of workaround, though.
I fed the Vox feed to Feedburner and ended up with http://feeds.feedburner.com/viloriavox
The quirky thing about it is Feedburner treats images uploaded to Vox as downloadable media in the podcast feed. If you're into podcasting and your Vox blog also has lots of photos, your podcast subscribers might complain if they find their iPods filled with more photos than mp3 files.
While lots of Filipinos converge in YouTube and Blogspot, I wonder how long it will take before Pinoys start setting up virtual homes here in Vox.
If you're Pinoy, please let me know so that I may add you to my Vox neighborhood. Para masaya! :-)
(I wonder if this will be the first instance of Tagalog here in Vox...)
If you enjoy changing the look of your site, it's easy to do with Vox. There are many themes to choose from, and once you see the list you will definitely agree that these designs are new.
You'll also get the feeling that Vox artists and illustrators are top-notch!
The current theme is Cityscape SF by Tiffany Chow. She also has great themes with cute illustrations of cats and dogs.
I've uploaded a "small" (less than 2MB) mp3 file of the Isulong Seoph Podcast at InMyEar.com
Download MP3 - will putting this direct link to the mp3 file in the body of this post create an enclosure in the atom xml feed? Let's find out...
Nope. It didn't work.
Adding YouTube videos here in Vox is a snap. I tried directly uploading an 8MB FLV file, but gave up after a few minutes. The wait would've been more bearable if there were some kind of progress bar to reassure me that the computer did not hang.
It's so easy to add photos and build your photoblog. After uploading a photo, you'll see a rectangular box similar to what's displayed when you're entering a basic, text-oriented, blog post.
I wonder if I'll see the same thing when I decide to add an audio or even a video file.
Looks like Vox puts your blogs, photoblogs, moblogs, videoblogs, and podcasts all in one place?
I'm testing Vox, and am intrigued by the buttons shown in the "Compose" window: Photos, audio, videos, books, collections.
There's also a "Recover" link which allows you to restore your post.
Time to click on the "Save Post" button. I wonder if this will save a draft and not instantly publish this post. Let's see...
